A taste of what's in store!
Well, I have opened the snack shack, everything worked, and I remembered how to cook the menu.
In June you can taste the delicious snacks, a selection of burgers, paninis, sausage, and of course chips. There is always a veggie option too. We do a dish of the day most weeks. That can be a pie, curry, chilli or stroganoff to have with your chips or rice. In June we open weekends only but in July it's full steam ahead and you can eat with us every night until the end of August.
What with that and our fresh bread every morning and lovely prepared picnics we can keep you fed. Especially if you are walking or cycling through the area. Our glamping tents are ideal for that, and we do book the smaller ones out for 1 night to save you putting your tent up.
We also like to be prepared for inclement weather and have some lovely shelters with picnic tables where you can cook, eat, relax and stay dry.
We even have a pizza oven now for you to try - made by the lovely Marie who used to work for us. We have called it Henry as it looks a bit like the hoover of the same name. Andrew just has to fix it to a stand. It will be positioned near the barbeque where many a trout caught in the lake has been cooked.
Cooking in the open is very cathartic and social. Our barbie area is a great meeting point on the campsite. People just love building a fire and cooking. It's that hunter gatherer instinct.
Our little shop stocks a few essentials and I like to think that you could prepare a basic meal from it or snacks for your apéro. And of course, marsh mallows for toasting on our communal fire pit, with ice cream and chocolate for dessert.
The children have all gone back to the UK now and the house is very quiet. I keep finding the odd sock here and there dotted about. They had a great week with beautiful weather. We played in the lake and on the beach, went to the seaside and took a boat trip from Roscoff to the Isle de Batz which they all loved. That’s a lovely day out when you are on holiday here and affordable too. It’s a great little island - you can hire bikes, there are nice places to eat and a micro-brewery. There are some lovely beaches to relax on with a picnic.
My sister is due to arrive tomorrow as the weather has become slightly more inclement than typically. Mind you we can still find plenty of things to do we will go to our favourite pub, Ty Elise in Plouye, eat at the restaurant and have a night on the campsite. I would like to take her too the Valley of the Saints as she has never been and it is a fascinating place to visit. Then take her to a restaurant in Carhaix called the Bonnet Rouge which is run by a Liverpool fanatic and an interesting place for lunch…. If you ever go there you must visit the toilet. I am saying no more!
See when we have inclement weather we can just cook and eat and drink wine……
