Instructions

Turn right out of the campsite gate then take the first left by our own cross, the Croas Penn Ar N’each.

Walk up into Brezehan past the Café au Route de Lin.

Notice all the roofs with the animals on. The slates are all mined locally and are a speciality of the Monts D’Arrée.

Just after the farm with the green windows and a picture of a turkey on a slate turn right up a track.

You will walk past a big turkey shed which can be a bit smelly….

Keep walking up the track for about 30 minutes and you will start to come into some deep dark woods on the right.

Keep walking up the hill. Just before you see the summit on the right in the woods you will see the Croas Melar. It's worth a little detour to have a look at it properly.

At the summit you will see lots of signposts for this walk. We are going straight on. The path then bends to the right.

You will get a great view of the Mont St Michel (not the one in Normandy!).

Walk down the path for about 10 minutes. It’s a great little track. We found lots of plants including wild orchids up there. You can see lots of slate on the floor all around the place.

You will eventually come to a corner where you can make a choice:

Either go down the narrow path by the farm building and walk along the lovely valley. You will see a ford and stream on the left where you can have lots of fun paddling about in the lovely clear water.

If you do go down into the valley it's quite steep. You must not cross the river but keep following the track up and out the other side.

Or if you don’t go down the little path, just follow the track down the hill and eventually the paths will converge and you willl be on the same track again.

Keep on the track past some lovely houses until you get to a road.

Go straight across at the road towards the lake. You will soon find yourself on the path round the lake. I always go right here - towards the bar where you can enjoy a drink at the end of the walk.
