We're getting ready for the new season!
Well we made it this far, Ascension bank holiday in France. The French like most people at the moment are desperate to go anywhere and have a good time after the confinement. So luckily for us we have quite a few of them at Camping Le Drennec. All of the glamping tents, bell tents and the love shack were booked out.
That is one of our biggest jobs at the start of any season. Erecting the tents and making them gorgeous. It’s hard and heavy work and so I am now shattered after a winter sat on my bottom.
But that job is done now and I was very pleased with how they look. When the customers arrived yesterday, they loved them too. That makes all of the hard work meaningful. I also like the fact that we don’t charge extortionate prices for our accommodation so many different people and families can have a lovely time with us.
We did get here to France in the end after a stress with covid test results and incorrectly completed dog health certificate. The UK vets don’t really understand it yet.
After that we had the luxury of a 7 day quarantine at home in France. We took advantage of that and did some gardening and completed bits of work on the snack shack as well as start to organise and wash all the bedding for the tents and love shack.
We have 10 beds now that need changing on a regular basis which is indeed hard work so I think I am at capacity for accommodation now.
Well apart from we have borrowed an old land rover ambulance that has boon converted into a camper van so we are putting an army tent with it to make a very interesting place for holidays. It will be a new experience for our campers.
One of the things that I love about the campsite is the nature and trees and the freedom for people to experience that.
This is why early on we made the decision not to have mobile homes which in great lines I think destroys the ambiance and atmosphere of a place. We are a proper campsite for campers!!!
